Phew! I haven’t posted anything on this blog in almost two years! So some quick updates & a catch up post:
This post was supposed to be an introduction to my NEW HOUSE! but I haven’t posted anything in so long that there’s a whoooole lotta updates. I sold my little condo in the Museum District in 2016 and moved to Church Hill – Richmond’s oldest neighborhood (where Patrick Henry gave his famous “give me liberty or give me death!” speech) and also an area going through a rebirth of sorts. I moved into a 1930s house that was flipped just for me! (P.S. I’m currently trying to determine the history of the house! Hopefully a post on that soon)
So I guess let’s start with the house before the flip. This is a google maps photo from 2012. Lovely right?! The leaning chimney is called CHARACTER.
I lucked out by purchasing the house from the flipper before he started renovations. I got to have a lot of say in the finishes! Here’s a photo of the living and dining rooms mid-renovation:
Here’s an after shot (from Winter 2017). Ignore the fact that the upstairs blinds weren’t installed (they are now!!) Also that chimney was removed before it fell on the roof.
I’ve been in the house for almost two years now and I’ve done a handful of little projects here and there – all of which will be posted in subsequent posts! You can also follow my house projects on Instagram by following me @staysh or with the hashtag #villastaysh

I also got a dog! His name is Pete and I adopted him from a wonderful rescue here called BARK. He’s a mutt but I’m pretty sure he’s part corgi, part redbone coonhound. How cute is this lil guy?! Be prepared to start seeing his face in a lot of posts.

Also remember how I was trying to make all of those Jell-O recipes in the Jell-o book? Well I totally fell out of the habit after I moved. Also they were gross. Not much motivation there, haha. I’m still going to try to do it, maybe just not as many frequent postings!

So, wow! I guess we’re kinda all caught up. I’m holding myself to updating this blog more frequently (not a hard challenge since all I need to beat is posting more frequently than two years!!!)
Cheers!
