Greetings everyone!

As you can see, it’s been quite some time since I’ve updated this site. After receiving a couple of messages on my personal instagram to blog about my house renovations, I’m back! And so, here we are on round three of trying to consistently blog about my house. But this time, I’m super excited and pleased that you all ~actually~ want to read about the stuff I’m doing. I’m happy you’re here!

Fun Fact: I collect vintage copper molds – don’t you just love the astrology one?

The next few posts will be dedicated to be some catch up over what I’ve been up to around the house, around Richmond and around the world (well, until COVID hit) since 2019.

The first and most dramatic project was painting my kitchen black. That’s right, you heard it – BLACK.

When I first started telling people that was the plan, I got so many horrified looks coupled with a few glances at my tattooed arm. ‘You’re a GOTH’, their faces would say.

Do I have a fair amount of tattoos? Yes. Am I a goth? No. My favorite color is yellow. But we all know yellow kitchens are a big no-no!

Anyway, the reasoning behind going as dark as possible was to make my white counters, white countertop, white backsplash, and white trim POP. It took me weeks to find the right black, and I ended up going with Sherwin Williams 7020 Black Fox , which looks VERY brown on their website, and does have brown undertones, but because I have so much bright light in my kitchen, it came out with almost a used-chalkboard color – which is exactly what I was going for.

Because this was the first major room I painted from the standard builders grey that we used during the flip, It’s opened up so many ideas for a palette for the rest of the (mostly open) first floor – so stay tuned for more color transformations!
