In Astrology, the fourth house commonly represents your home and those that dwell there with you. The fourth house is ruled by Cancer – the ‘mother’ of the Zodiac – and the Moon – representing emotion. Family life, history, traditions, motherhood, comfort and retreat can all be associated with this House.

You are the person in your family that assumes the leadership role. You are active in family affairs and takes charge in family matters. Your family may see you as overprotective or overbearing. Be willing to compromise with your family, and learn to listen to what their needs are as well.

A typical trait of Gemini, you may not spend very long in one place, always moving around, though it might not be very far. You are aware of your ability to achieve your goals and ambitions, and your home is a way to have something tangible to show for them. You feel responsible for your family, and assume a lot of the responsibilities in providing for them. You don’t want a traditional home life. You may move often or change your home regularly in some way. You like to have eclectic household items that are conversation starters, and value functional, sleek and modern styles. You likely don’t have a strong emotional tie to your family, or have a place you think of as home. You like things how you like them, and have a hard time making changes when requested by family or housemates. You find it draining to live with people who are considered clingy.

Your home and family life has a direct impact on you and how you feel about yourself. There’s a strong emotional bond with your family or your home, and you need support and stability. You need a house full of calming and peaceful space, however that doesn’t mean boring. Your home needs to be an emotional refuge. You make ultimate sacrifices for those you love. You are sentimental when it comes to your family and your roots, but that does not extend to allowing the whole lot of them to live under your roof; you value your privacy and space far too much for that.
