My office goes bowling once a year and loves to pass out silly awards (King Turkey, Gutter Queen, Best Form, etc.) This year my counterpart & I thought it would be fun to make actual awards instead of printing out computer certificates. These medals cost about $20 ($10 of which was the spraypaint ~ bring a coupon) to make 24. And they were a hit! One of our Board Members wore his all around the office the next day; a pretty fabulous compliment if you ask me!

Here is the supply list that I used to make 24:
2 packs of 12 Ball Jar Lids (lids only; you DON’T need the bands!)
4 rolls of 18ft grosgrain ribbon (cheaper at Wal-Mart than at the fabric store!)
1 can of Rustoleum Gold Glitter Spray Paint
Hot Glue Gun or Regular Glue
1 large bottle of Black Matte Fabric Paint

Essentially, all you need to do is spray those lids, glue on the ribbon, and paint your design! As far as the spray painting goes, I highly recommend spraying outside because 1. obviously, ventilation. but also 2. the glitter gets EVERYWHERE (I now have lovely glitter coated hardwood floors!) Lots of coats seemed to work best with the glitter paint; the ones I did a few coats on came out better than the ones i coated thoroughly with one coat. Once that dries, paint your design on the lids. This is the creative part, put whatever you want on those thangs! I used a simple image of my company’s graphic spectrum that we use on a lot of our marketing materials to try to emulate Olympic medals; I’m pretty pleased how sleek they look! Once all that is dry, cut & glue the ribbon to the back.
